Pastors
John and Leith Syratt
John and Leith began their ministry in the early 70's as youth and young adults leaders in the Calgary Jesus People movement. They later moved to Lethbridge where they Pastored New Hope Christian Centre. In the early 90's they returned to Calgary and assisted Peter and Leslie McManus in establishing Lighthouse Church. John is co-publisher of City Light News, Calgary's only Christian newspaper. John and Leith are presently Senior Pastors at the Lighthouse.
Frank and Liz Amantea
Frank and Liz met and were married in the early 70's in the Jesus People movement. In 1975 they went to the NWT as missionaries and spent 5 years with the Inuit. They moved to Lethbridge in 1981 and worked as Associate Pastors with John and Leith. In 1991 they were sent as missionaries to the Philippines and established New Hope To Asia. Upon returning to Calgary in 1996, they joined with Peter, Leslie, John and Leith in the establishing of Lighthouse Church. Frank and Liz presently serve as Staff Pastors on the eldership team at the Lighthouse.
Patti Smawley
Patti was raised in a Christian home and accepted Jesus at a very early age. She had the opportunity to serve as a missionary in India before launching into her career. She presently works within one of the city's oil and gas companys and has been a valued employee for many years. Patti, a gifted children's pastor, affectionately known as "Miss Patti," is a member of the eldership team at the Lighthouse.
Home Groups
Meeting in homes, in small groups, provides an opportunity for more informal fellowship. The purpose of a home group is to provide an atmosphere of caring and sharing. A place where a person can feel safe and have their needs ministered to. Home Groups are an important part of the ministry at the Lighthouse. If you would like to be involved in a Home Group please check our SCHEDULE.
Children
Parents are encouraged to have their children actively participate in our praise and worship time. Following the praise and worship, Lighthouse Beams (children ages 5 - 11) are dismissed from the main meeting area. They meet separately to be taught and trained in God's Word. We believe children need to experience God in their lives too. A play area has been set up at the back of the church for children ages 1-4.
Prayer
This ministry is led by Denise Hill. We meet at 10am for prayer at the Church building every Wednesday. Through this ministry, we have seen answers to many prayers. Please join us on Wednesday mornings and see what the Lord will do. Prayer requests are circulated by Denise via an email prayer network.
